A antiga Escola Primária do Aeroporto (segunda localização) ficou implantada no que foi parte do edifício que servia de Messe de Sargentos na Base Aérea Americana de Santa Maria e funcionou desde final dos anos 1950 até finais dos anos 1970. Ainda é visível o espaço do pátio de recreio e a sua entrada exterior com 3 degraus de pedra de cantaria, ladeados por muros também em cantaria e com extremidade arredondada.
The former Elementary School (second location) was located in what was part of the building that served as the Sergeants Mess in the American Air Force Base . It worked from the late 50s to late 70s. Traces of the recreation patio and external entrance are still visible, 3 steps of stonework, flanked by walls also in stonework and with rounded ends.

O atual Bairro da Almagreira é um conjunto de edifícios pré-fabricados em chapa de zinco onde, na fase da Base Americana, estavam alojados os militares americanos da classe de soldados e os militares em trânsito. Sobram poucas das suas casas.
The present Bairro da Almagreira is a residential neighborhood of zinc plate walls prefabricated buildings which, during the American Air Force Base, housed the Soldier rank US military and the military in transit. Few of these houses are still standing.
Dois grandes tanques cilíndricos para armazenamento da água que abastecia a rede da Base Aérea e, mais tarde, de toda a área afecta ao aeroporto internacional. Ainda hoje "dominam" a paisagem a leste do Aeroporto e servem o abastecimento, não só ao aeroporto e respectiva zona residencial, como também a outras zonas limítrofes.
Set of several huge cylindrical tanks for water storage that supplied the network of the American Air Base and later the entire area allocated to the international airport. Today they still "dominate" the landscape at the eastern part of the Airport and supply, not only the Airport area, but also part of the southwestern portion of the Island.
