Bairro residencial de edifícios "Quonset Hut", situado na margem oeste da “Estrada de Baixo” (Avenida de São Miguel). Foi edificado para alojar o contingente americano que construiu as pistas e placa definitivas (Pan Am Job Order 101 / 1953-58). Resistem alguns edifícios, sendo intenção da Direcção Regional da Cultura do Governo Regional dos Açores proceder à sua recuperação para fins de musealização.
Residential district of "Quonset Hut" buildings, located on the western edge of the so called “Estrada de Baixo” (Lower Road) (São Miguel Avenue). It was built to house part of the American contingent that built the definitive runways, taxyways and apron (1953-58). Some of the Quonset Hut type buildings still persist, and it is the intention of the Azorean Regional Government's Directorate of Culture to restore them for musealization purposes.

Situada no flanco oeste da chamada “Estrada de Baixo” (Avenida de São Miguel), ocupando a parte sudeste da área consignada para a "Zona Franca de Santa Maria" (desde o Bairro dos Americanos até em frente ao atual CFAA – Centro de Formação Aeronáutica dos Açores). Todos os armazéns eram edifícios de madeira dispostos longitudinalmente em sequência de duas filas paralelas à referida estrada e foram desativados com a transferência da Base Aérea Americana e com o fim dos trabalhos da Pan Am Job Order 101.
Sited on the western flank of the so called “Estrada de Baixo” (Lower Road) (São Miguel Avenue), occupying the southeastern part of the area allocated to the "Industrial Free Zone" (from the American's Quarter to just in front of the current CFAA - SATA's Azores Aeronautical Training Academy). All the warehouses were wooden buildings disposed longitudinally in sequence of 2 rows parallel to the road and were dismantled upon the transfer of the American Air Force Base Unit and the end of the Pan Am Job Order 101.
